Default Couple questions...

1. Has ability of getting dust trails changed somehow sometimes? I remember that if visibility is more than 60 you can have dust trails (I just tried battle as Israel vs. Syria 1973, visibility 64 but no dust trails)...

2. Is it same thing getting air strikes (visibility 64 but still not ability getting any air strike)? Maybe it should be 70+ at this moment?

Sorry if I ask silly questions...

Default Re: Couple questions...

1/ we have made no changes to the dust code ( that I am aware of )
2/ I have not had any problem getting airstrikes and I just tried the same combination you had ( but you neglected to tell me the month and that can be critical to dust ) and I got airstrikes with Vis 58

I am looking into the "dust" issue now. I seem to recall seeing it recently but after all these years I tend to tune it out

Quick tests: Dust now only seems to appear at vis >70.

Wasn't it always at Vis >60?

If I remember correctly you have to be going over certain speed (move hexes?) before dust trails appear for a vehicle.

There are no // comments in the code indicating any change has been made since we first added dust to the game and we are consistent on doing so when there is an adjustment to code like that.

EDIT......

But APPARENTLY we did, I was looking in the wrong part of the code

From the GG.....April 2013

Quote:
Map vision algorithm changes have been made. The game is now more likely to produce both high (70-80 hex visibility) sunny days and also some night (1-4 hex) visibility conditions. Rooster trails of dust from moving vehicles in deserts and dry summer conditions etc. have been adjusted upwards by 10 hexes to allow for the higher typical visibility. (Previously the game tended to produce too many low visibility days of 20-40 hexes maximum visibility, i.e. an overcast day).

Well I played Israel vs. Syria October 1973. Is october too "cold" or "wet" season for dust trails? Should I try only summer months (June-August)?

Hmm I tried to start some test battles as Israel vs. Syria June 1967:
1.visibility 70-> no dust trails, air strikes not available.
2. ,, 75-> ,, , ,,
3. ,, 80-> NOW dust trails appear BUT no air strikes available!

Interesting, isn't it?

3. visibility 80->Now works BUT no air strikes!

I'm curious to why you think the only reason airstrikes might not be available is entirely related to visibility.
