Default Multiplayer

I have noticed that very few MP games have happened. This is a tragedy.
I have played two games online and the game REALLY shines with a human opponent. I have a thread going in the opponents wanted forum, looking for a game. Give it a try guys,...you will be very glad you did.

ScottWAR and I played a game last night and I agree that it is the only way to go. Playing against the AI is dull compared to having a human opponent. He took me pretty easily (and congrats to him) but I hope that just means that I have some areas where I can and will improve.

I have a suggestion for improving the MP environment. There are many voice-over-IP (VOIP) programs that are available for gaming use, such as TeamSpeak and Ventrilo. I have used them in other gaming environments (I do quite a bit of online sim-racing) and I recommend it highly. What would be needed to promote and enhance multi-player WPP would be a dedicated VOIP server with a common room and a number of rooms where players could go to play out a game. I don’t know if Shrapnel games could do this and have it linked to the forum but my opinion is that this would do a lot to enhance the experience and it might even sell a few more games.

The other suggestion I have is for players having trouble getting MP to work is to visit

http://portforward.com/

lots of good advice and help there.

Hey Scott,
I want a rematch. Probably can’t make it tonight but soon I hope.

Dave Bradley

I vote for Teamspeak (have used it in the past).

Ventrilo is MUCH better than teamspeak. Much clearer. However I know it costs a licensing fee to run a server. Not sure about Teamspeak and whether it requires a server, or if it costs to get a license, but teamspeak's quality leads to most people saying the word "what?' more than any other.

Never knew that there was such a quality gap. I still don't believe it. I never had a clarity issue with TS. In my experience, the only 'what' issue on TS comes when in play when talking with someone you does not speak english so good or when talkover happens. AFAIK, Teamspeak is free for both client and server as long as its for gaming proposes. FYI - Matrix uses TS.

There is such a quality gap, unless teamspeak has improved in the last couple of years, which is quite possible I guess.

I will add that the comparison comes from when I played Battlefield 1942 in a rather large guild. There were a lot of us on at once so that may have had some impact on quality.

Currently I am in another guild ( http://www.oldtimersguild.com ) that uses ventrilo, so I am experienced with it.
