Steel Tigers dev team latest scoop
https://www.wargamer.com/articles/ga...kx4lu7JYIzf-Yg
"...We do plan to involve the Steel Panthers community in the alpha test once the basic feature set and testing are complete and their feedback will help us greatly in determining the final shape of the game and additional development and the final release timeline..."
They'd better if they don't want to sprout a half a$$ed eye candy cartoonish clickfest brain numbing "wargame".
In the meantime, it will take a LOT to knock off WINSPWW2 & WINSPMBT from their top shelf spot in the turn based tactical wargaming genre.

Hmm that link doesn't worked for me... If I understand right, is Steel Tigers new "Steel Panthers"-styled wargame (or not)?

We'll know when they get to the alpha test stage. Right now nobody but the 2by3 has seen it

Re: Steel Tigers dev team latest scoop
About a year ago I read that Gary Grigsby was going to make the best tactical wargame in history and the game will set the standard for all future releases, this could be it.

We will see, but I heard it’s going to be 3D and not top down and I personally don’t have much interest in that approach.

I have my doubts too about 3D, perhaps they'll be persuaded enough to incorporate both 2D and 3D views with 360 degree panning view.
On another note, this guy has been building this turn based hex tactical WW2 game "Second Front" on his own apparently with 2D and 3D views, looks promising despite the cartoonish look, i would support it just for the sake of it:

3D gets old fast, and then just sucks computer cycles. Soon you'll need 50 gigs of ram to play some of these games.

Re: Steel Tigers dev team latest scoop
If it is using the Slitherine engine do we think it will look like "Order of Battle:World War II"?

Spot on, Oche. If they are to best winSPWW2/MBT they have their work cut out for them. Big time.
Btw,"the Steel Panthers community" who is that, exaclty? I assume they are talking about the other gang...

Re: Steel Tigers dev team latest scoop
I think the Steel Panthers "Community" is a general term. Probably includes everyone. I don't believe there's an "official" committee or anything, though you probably have to be responsible and not "f-up" their hard work or anything.
