Unfortunately, Victory conditions are not configurable (they neeed to be).

This would make population key to the game:

First player with {number } M Population of at least { Rioting / Angry / Unhappy / Indifferent / Happy / Jubilant} Mood of {my original/any} Race.

Simply, You win by number of population at a minimum mood.
(I would think Any and Rioting is the same in regard to mood)

Since most populations seem to start off Jubilant, you need to put in a time limit; before N years the condition doesn't kick in.

I would think you would set the population to a goal that it would take time to win, and grow your population.

Large population numbers would increase the need for Ringworlds and Sphereworlds, which right now are sort of just bells and whistles to the game.

If I had the condition, player must have 1,000,000 M, Happy + population, this could only be done with RW's and SW's.

Keeping your own Happy may not bee too difficult, but keeping a captured populace may be....tweaking the modd variables may make such a game even more challenging..

Sounds like a good addition to me. The more objectives you can shoot for, the more ways there are to play!

You have my vote.

Re: "I would think you would set the population to a goal that it would take time to win"

This situation (populations begin jubilant) can neatly be avoided by also setting a time condition to the victory requirements alongside that of population count/mood/race.

I'm assuming that "my original/any" race modifier to mood means of populations the player in question controls, and not of all empires in the game?

Why no similar modifier to population size?

One that I started using was the whole quadrant at peace for two years, after 10 years have passed. This allows "peaceful" domination of the qhole quadrant.
