Lycanthrope Amulet: Does it work?
I remember this item from Dominions 2 and it ultimately never did turn someone using it into a beast.
Does it work now in Domininons 3? Will a hero wearing it eventually turn into a beast or is there no penalty associated with it anymore?

Almost positive it turns you into a werewolf.

Re: Lycanthrope Amulet: Does it work?
It works.
Tested 50 units with an amulet. After 10 turns, 9 had turned into monster number 400 (Skinshifter). They change into unit 399 (Werewolf) in battle when wounded, but do not have access to the 'Change Shape' command in the map view.
Magic paths are retained when you become a Skinshifter, but since you are berserk, you can't cast spells in battle.

Note that it won't change your age, but it will change your max age (so you might suddenly become old).

Re: Lycanthrope Amulet: Does it work?
Yes, the troll armor is really nice for something like a Great Sage, I think. This does work on pretenders, I've had success with it in MP.
One other thing: if you give the Amulet to a unit with more than two misc slots, and the Amulet is in the first misc slot, then the Amulet will disappear when the unit changes into a Skinshifter.
But because of the age issue K pointed out, it's not a good plan to do this to a Crone, for example. And I'm not sure if the amulet works on pretenders at all (in regard to changing them into a Skinshifter, it still berserks them). I tested the Amulet with an Oracle, and after 200 turns, the Oracle was still an Oracle.
Here's my Great Sage troll:

Re: Lycanthrope Amulet: Does it work?
I put the troll armor on a Troll King once. He turned into a normal little troll. Not a good idea in retrospect.

I'm pretty sure that Lifeless and undead things can't be changed, so Oracles and Monoliths will just stay Cursed.

It also never changed my Ancient Kraken in the 200+ turns I tested it.

Re: Lycanthrope Amulet: Does it work?
I think the Lycanthrope Amulet may depend on what you put it on - may have to be roughly human, not on an oracle or giant squid...
