Approaching Infinity : The Next Update (STTNG)
I've started working on AI 1.15 ... The current plan is to release several small updates... I'm not sure if this one will be "small" or not, because I've already got some cool stuff.
First, I added an idea that was suggested on one of the forums here: "Racial Shipwrecks": when you blow up an alien ship, there is a chance that there will be a wreck left behind that you can board and loot. You will also meet members of that race, and they will probably not be happy with you.
Tentaculon Shipwreck:
Next, I tackled "officer customization": officers now have 12 different uniforms (9 of which you have to collect during play if you want to see them). You can also change their faces! I might limit "changing their faces" until you find a device like the "Face Changer 3000" or something... but the underlying concept is already in there.
More to come,
Bob

Sounds great. I especially like the part about meeting alien races in combat in person. Since i play AI i wish i could see the other races as little sprites. TENTACULONS!

Those do sound good :-) At last we can get to see what the aliens look like.
I've not been playing for a couple of weeks (rather over did it when i first got the game), but this is the very kind of thing to entice me back :-)

will keep you posted.
Am now making plans to attend IRDC this year in Atlanta... that and lots of other stuff going on now, but AI still has lots of fun stuff to come.

Re: Approaching Infinity : The Next Update (STTNG)
Bob,
It sounds great. It gives plenty of options and ideas to give more fun to the game. It has reminded me of Pirates and Pirates gold, where you could board the ships and get a lot more loot from the ships.
I don't know if you have thought about it, but I am thinking also about new quests in which you have to save somebody kidnapped in a ship or rescue something stolen (or who knows?).
Great, great update.

Re: Approaching Infinity : The Next Update (STTNG)
Here's a silly new effect from 1.15 that might come in handy on certain planets...
This is one of 10 new effects I've added. More to come...
(think I should add the opposite effect? I'd call it a "Johnny Appleseed Suit")

Yes. Especially if you also add positive reasons to do so. I'd rather be Captain Appleseed than Captain Deforestation. In fact, I'd eagerly accept missions to er... "disable" ecologically unsound operations.

Re: Approaching Infinity : The Next Update (STTNG)
The opposite would probably have to come from a negative artefact or a really rare monster, since trees are really annoying as far as exploration goes (well, until you get the scanner, but the point remains).
