arrows out of nowhere ... ??

suddenly an arrow materializes and flies at one of my comanders each round.

and now one such arrow has killed my pretender god.

why does this happen? it says there are no active global enchantments ATM.

i have this +3 death magic cepter. it it linked to the incidents?

and whats more effective against arrows, a robe of shadows or a robe of missile protection?

Enchantment 3, Seeking Arrow. Ritual Air 3. Cost 4 Air gems. The Sniper Rifle of the Gods. Get missile protection ASAP.

what about robes of shadow? do they suffice?
and what about robes of invulnerability -- are those better than robes of missile protection when it comes to fending off missiles?

That depends on whether the arrows are considered to be magical weapons or not. If they are only normal weapons, then those robes will have a 75% chance of protecting you. If they are magical, then the robes will do nothing.

The robes of invuilnerabilty have the same effect as the invulnerability spell. They set your base protection to 30. This means that it will only be an extremely lucky arrow that manages to get through that much armor.

But you'll still get a chest wound for your trouble. At least it's only one arrow per round. I've felt the love of having my pretender struck by 17 arrows in one round. Don't piss off Caelum.

You might also want to throw up a dome or two. Domes of Solid Air stop incoming spells 80% (but break when a spell gets through), while a Dome of Flaming Death will show the enemy caster what you think of him (hence, the 'flaming' part).
