One more suggestion...
Please add a "Mission Log" or "Mission Journal".
Auto-fills with all events and dates, as well as some humorous comments. Keeps infos about combats (what ship was lost, who we destroyed) and victories.
Keeps a few snapshots from combat (during key moments).
The player can add his/her own comments.
In the end, the journal can be saved to disk and maybe shared with other players, uploaded to a site or published on the web.

Re: One more suggestion...
Yeah, I'd really love something like this, and it would fit the theme fantastically. "Humourous comments" would be difficult to do without having them wear rather thin, but maybe for certain rare occasions. Snapshots might be tricky to automate as well. I'd say start with a basic text log of the game, and maybe expand it from there.
p.s. you know you can edit your posts, yes?

yes. so?
About automated funny comments: Sim City 3000 has an automated headlines generator that works quite fine. Of course it can wear thin, but it takes a lot of time.
Snapshots: Take a snap each time a ship (friend or enemy) is about to blow up. Let the player decide which one to keep (or none). Add a R.I.P. comment on the picture when it's a friendly ship.
Anyway, I think lost ships should lead to a pop-up, after combat, reminding the fleet commander about the tragic events.

It does seem cruel that allies and hired help get blasted apart without a second thought...
Many's the time I've seen the noble Klakar leading the charge to soften up the enemy before my ship arrives...even better if they get destroyed because of course then no payment is required

Re: One more suggestion...
It would be nice to have a log but with most games only lasting a hour or so at best, is it really needed? But then again, there are sometimes funny situations that are worthy of screenshots...

My thinking was that I'd like for a text log of your voyage to be attached to the high-score table, so that you could click something to review how it was that you got that great score (or the tragic events that prevented it from being that little bit better Including the contents of your ships on return, and such forth.

Well you started a thread entitled "comments, suggestions" and then decided to create a new thread to add "one more suggestion" rather than just editing it into the first one. I thought perhaps you didn't realise that you could edit your posts.
