Finally can I do a 250 planet quad in the mod or am I going to have problems? Thanks.
The AI is doing all right in Proportions 1.5 or later, with the following exceptions:
1) It can get stuck behind uncolonizable systems, and lose colony ships to black holes, so you should use a quadrant type without too many of those.
2) You might be able to blitz and take over an AI homeworld or two intact, which would give you a huge advantage.
3) The AI could use some tweaking - it will be much tougher after I tweak it using some of the features supported by the (not yet released) first Gold patch.
On the other hand, if you give the AI a bonus in Proportions, then it will have a large advantage that will Last much longer than in other game types.
Proportions will be best with humans, though, because there are a lot of interesting strategems possible.
The Proportions system names file only has 243 names... I'll add more for the 1.6 Version I'm about to release. Otherwise, there shouldn't be any problem, as far as I know.
To sum up, Proportions adds a lot of realistic scaling, but this makes for a slower/different scale of play. With one homeworld and normal research rate, the early techs come sooner but the later techs, and development of large colonies, will take an extremely long time.
