Will "Phone Home" CD-key check affect my hosting setup?

My situation is this:

2 comps sharing broadband internet via router and network device;

I host on the "always on" comp downstairs, then join this game via my other computer upstairs.

I have just the one copy of Dominions2, so the same CD-key was used on both machines.

Is the "phone home" going to cause problems if I want to play on the upstairs machine in the game I am hosting on the downstairs machine in my home?

I was told by Illwinter that I could do that without it being a violation (I host on Linux and play on Windows). Hosting didnt check CD key. I dont know why the new thing would.
