Default Random wounds...why?

Hello,

I've been playing with LA Mictlan for the first time and am having fun (the dominion spread mechanic is uber micromanagment, what with me having to "refill" my priests in all my temples every few turns, but whatever).

Funny thing is, I have commanders that keep getting random wounds. It happens to my priests and it just happened to my stealthy Tlahuelpuchi in dog form in another's dominion.

At first, I thought it was a side effect of blood magic/blood hunting, or perhaps a result of my misfortune 1 dominion (I don't play with misfortune ever) but I have played LA Ulm and blood hunted and don't remember random wounds, and my Tlahuelpuchi was not in a misfortune dominion when it happened. She did however turn from a dog to a woman, not at my orders, but she wasn't attacked, since she was still alive.

Any ideas? I'm just curious because I like to prepare for game mechanics. Oh, I just remembered this also happened to a Couatl of mine, though in my dominion. He received a "never ending/unhealing wound", as did the Tlahuelpuchi, though some of my priests received other afflictions.

Thanks! Also, I think the national summons are cool with this nation, but they are begging for a high hp thug chassis. I wonder if I can gift of reason a Monster Toad...doubt it would have room for many artifacts though.

What do you mean refill your preists? IIRC They automatically grab the blood slaves they need for blood sacrafices as long as you have a lab.

The afflictions could be coming from seeking arrows, fires from the sky, or Wrath of God global, and so on. Should not be caused by misfortune alone.

Are the priests etc old? Old age can cause afflictions.

The afflictions on Moon/Sun priests could also be caused by old age, if they occur in late winter.

Coatls and Tlahuelpuchi should be immune from old age effects though, so make sure you check all the turn messages. Tlahuelpuchi will change from a dog to a woman automatically if they take damage in battle. Since Tlahuelpuchi will not change from a dog to a woman randomly, I think it's likely her affliction is from damage.

LA Mictlan has (at least) the following thug chassis at research 6/7 available: Ice Devil, Arch Devil, Onaqui, Tlaloque

Onaquis can also summon death thugs and Vampire Lords.

It says when you issue a blood sacrifice order you must equip blood slaves.

If you pool blood slaves (from the hunters) the sacrificing priests' slaves are also taken away. Or if it isn't about that, all the temples might not have laboratories.

If you pool blood slaves I'm pretty sure the guys with sacrifice orders let over from the previous turn still grab new slaves and sacrifice them when you end the turn, so long as there are enough available. So you can pool without worrying.

I was curious about whether that works or not.

Certainly, after you pool, your sacrificer still keeps the "Sacrifice" order, but no longer has slaves.

So, I stopped all blood hunting in an SP game of mine. Pooled all slaves from the F7-pool command. Left one H1 priest with on "Sacrifice", with no slaves.

After "End Turn", he's got a slave in the queue, so that worked. But my slave count only dropped by one. If he had actually sacrificed, my count should be down by 2 (one dead from a sacrifice, and one he's now holding).

So, they do grab new slaves, but only for next turn's sacrifice, not the current turn. And if you "pool" again the next turn, you won't sacrifice any slaves again.
