Sequence of actions??

I just had a human player lay mines on my planet prior to my blowing him out of the skies with planet based fighters, occured in the same turn. We had no treaties at the start / end of the turn.

I am supposing that he ordered the mine layer to lay mines.

What happened!! So much for local defence!!

What happened must be that he gave the order to lay mines remotely and that triggered before the combat. Either that or he laid them during combat, which can happen.

Usually mines laid during combat are re-loaded into cargo after combat. But in this case, the minelayer was destroyed, so the mines couldn't be stored anywhere... interesting trick...
