Why Won\'t My Computer Stay In Hybernation?
I hate this. I put my PC, xp sp2, into hybernation and go to bed. When I wake up I find that it has come out of hybernation and is running. I have no virus, no adware, no spyware, or anything on the PC that can explain this.
There is no reason, aside from ghosts, that I can find that would cause the PC to wake up.
The only program that I can think of that might cause the PC to wake up is the OS itself. Any thoughts? BTW, if I power off the PC, it takes 10 minutes to reboot back to useable state. Hybernation it only takes about a minute. My Hajack this log is clean clean and only the basic system functions are loaded at start up, those bing firewall, anti virus, and pest patrol softwares.

Re: Why Won\'t My Computer Stay In Hybernation?
If you can live without your computer for a day or so, set it into hibernation in the morning, and see when it comes back on. One reason might be power failures at midnight every day...

Is the mouse device allowed to bring it out of hibernation (check in Control Panel > Mouse Properties)? It might be randomly sending noisy data, triggering a motion detection.

Or maybe it's just his cat playing with his mouse (Cats do that for a living)

Remote keyboard or mouse? You may be getting random signals from some other source. Just turn the monitor off and leave it run.

Why not just turn the computer off?

I'm assuming that's why.

Re: Why Won\'t My Computer Stay In Hybernation?
I vote the mouse as the culprit...as for the shutdown/reboot time...I've been having the same issue...I don't know if this will help but...I haven't tested it yet...
