Low Dominion values
I'm wondering of the viability of really low dominions. Sure, we have "it depends on your playing style" but having a Dominion level at God creation of 1 or even 2 seems a very large handicap for a very small reward. Is there any reason in choosing a dominion of one with your little arch mage? I understand if you have nasty scales, but still . . . doesn't that leave you open to bigtime vulnerability, particularly if Golden Age Arco is running around with its skeptics going willy-nilly? Particularly on a small map? So . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . what ought a moodgiesanta to do about this?

Re: Low Dominion values
5 is the lowest I go. 7 is average for me.
8 to 10 very rarely.

Re: Low Dominion values
3 or 4 is survivable on large maps, but on a small map, you're just too vulnerable to an early dominion overrun.

Re: Low Dominion values
Against computer opponents you could survive with 3.
Against human opponents do not go below 5... way to risky.

Re: Low Dominion values
"not much return" was interesting. So you consider low-dominion to be only for what it saves you in points? There are times I do low dominion on purpose. When I dont want my dominin to spread ahead of me much. When I want most of my fights to be outside of my dominion. Or I dont want to be easily located by my dominion.

Re: Low Dominion values
Like so many things in Dominions, it depends on what you want to do. If I am C’tis with Miasma, I go for a high dominion to ensure my power is felt. If I am playing a nation for which dominion is not a big deal, I go lower. If I have invested the points in Miasma and then do not take advantage of it with a higher dominion, my chances of survial are lower than other nations with less dominion.
Also, on the bigger maps I go with a lower value. Building fifteen temples on the world map is not a big deal, but building fifteen on a map with only 30 provinces is a huge issue.
I know you are looking at the minimum survivable, but it really depends on what your plan is and how you intend to deal with the low dominion.
