Just wanted to thank everyone's contribution today in regards to all the new revisions that can be made to the ai. Great job people, I hope we can continue to make the AI better by ourselves.
Yes I hope so too! I got the AI to use the planets much more intelligently by modifiying that planet-types file with assistance by HreDaak.
I'd like to make it even more intlligent though. How do I get that AI to settle on red planets if there aren't enough green ones? Or how do I get it to settle them earlier? Usually the AI will send colonizers to green planets first even when they are far away. Only after having settled on those will it settle on red ones as well.
Another problem I frequently have is that the AI produces not enough colony ships. At the moment I have a human player on AI control just to watch it play. Its colonies are being swarmed by enemy ships but they are defended alright. It simply won't build colony ships fast enough to keep ahead of the other players. Can I change that?
Have a look into the thread "reasons why the AI runs out of ressources" HreDaak gives detailed descriptions of how to improve the planet-types file. The other files can be improved likewise.
Eisenhans you can change the amount of colonizers the AI builds by modifing the Default_AI_construction_vehicles.txt file in the AI folder. This one file will affect all the AI though. I don't know if you could put a copy in the races section and make it work, some files do some don't I haven't tried this one. I just changed it for all the races myself.
As a group, lets be sure that we send discoveries like this to Malfador as suggestions. That way there's a reasonable chance they'll make it into the patches.
