Looking for HIGH QUALITY mod
Something that re-works much of the important stats into something GOOD. I'm looking for something with genuine thought put into it, not just some artwork ripped off of a television show.

Re: Looking for HIGH QUALITY mod
Check P&N, to start.
Devnull also, perhaps, but like too many other mods I haven't had enough playing time with it
I'd refer you to Techmod, but it's not finished.

Re: Looking for HIGH QUALITY mod
P&N's short list of features:
- Planets not required: play as an Nomadic race.
- Pirate races also available, for extra challenge.
- Quasi-newtonian propulsion.
- Balanced resource use. (Radioactives are as important as minerals, though organics are still only heavily used by organic races)
- Many more defensive options: shields and armor are balanced, as well as "null-space armor". There are many varieties of shield and armor and even combos to try.
- More racial traits to choose: Gravitational Manipulation, Living ships, pack rats, tiny race, expanded automation, "Think Big", etc.
- Racial Crossover techs. Bio-Crystal Armor, Bio-engineered fanatic, Harmonic Shields, etc...
- Some weapon rebalancing. (eg: APB's are not Uberweapons anymore) Phased weapons reworked; research in phased energy upgrades existing weapons.
AND: Compatible with TDM modpack! Just apply the AI patcher, and you're ready.

Re: Looking for HIGH QUALITY mod
Hey pal. Alot of hard work and thought is going into these "artwork ripped off of a television show" mods. No reason to knock us for trying to recreate established scifi worlds. If you don't like them download something else or create your own. Or how about this, make your own. TDM mod packs are in my option one of the best. There are also others that are very good too.

Re: Looking for HIGH QUALITY mod
I'd say P&N or TDM are among the best that are not related to an existing sci-fi universe.
As to your statement of no thought put into those types of mods - well... I do echo Atomannj's statement to a degree, there is an awful lot of thought and effort going into the creation of many of those mods - especially the Sci-Fi cross over mod - where the fans of a particular show are trying to recreate an atmosphere within this game that allows them to 'participate' in their favorite show. While there have been some shipsets that were just clips of a particular race from a show, most of the ones I have seen have tried to mesh them with SE IV so people can play their favorite race with any other SE IV race. Kudos to them all!!!!!
