Rarity suggestion
Hi
a rarity equipment restriction in campaign games would be great and add a whole new dimesion to them eg most nations especially your lesser ones do not have tons of every equipment available all of the time, especially during war time, so that even though those items are listed in your campaign for selection, they might not be avalable at that time. This would force players and the AI to field more realistic picks on the battlefield for thier particular nation.
Has the team already thought of this or is this factored into the cost of the equipment?
I am just throwing this suggestion out there, this is already a superb simulation.

Re: Rarity suggestion
Rarity is not factored into the cost of things.
AFAIK:
The radio code controls AI picks of different units (kind of preferred equipment for a given time / point value), however there are no set limits as max number of certain units though.

Re: Rarity suggestion
This is not going to happen for two very important reasons
1- The game as it's set up now allows a great deal of flexibility. If you want to buy more tanks for a nation that they possibly could in reality and play a game, you can. It's your choice. Or, if you are that interested in reality you can do the research and only buy what would be fielded by that nation and no more but the choice is yours. There are very few people who would appreciate a game "nanny". The AI already has one to a certain degree. If the second digit in the radio code is 1 the vehicle is rarely picked but a human player can pick as many as he wants. I support that freedom of choice, anyone wanting to put their own restrictions on either in a generated battle or PBEM can do so
2- Even if I did support the idea of some kind of rarity code that would restrict the number of a particular unit based on how many they may have ( and that would always be a moving target with current weapons systems which would require constant updating ) there are currently 34,581 units represented in all the OOB's in MBT ( and another 12006 in SPWW2 ) and there is NO WAY anyone is going to go through 46587 OOB entries adding another rarity code that most people would scream about anyway because we stopped them from buying that extra company of tanks because "we" say they shouldn't have any more. As well, none of that takes into account the reams of code that would need to be written to accomodate this.
So..no. This is not ever going to happen

Re: Rarity suggestion
Hmm that rarity option works in SPWAW quite good. And still player have choice to play with "default" picklist or not... I understand that MBT includes much more nations/oobs than SPWAW and it would be enormous load of work to add rarity code into every oob...

I'd think you'd find that instituting a rarity system, no matter how good, would cause these kind of threads to appear in reverse. I for one turned off the rarity setting in SP:WAW for what short period of time I played it because of how annoying and otherwise frustrating I found it to be. "Rarity" should be left to the user in the case of the single player game and to user concensus in PBEM games IMHO.

Re: Rarity suggestion
agree with thatguy96. Many things in SP:MBT and WW2 can be solved by player and in case of PBEM's by gentleman's agreement.
