Lotsa fighters...
Whats a good design for an anti-fighter ship. The AI has defended it's plantets with like 100 fighters each. My ships have PDC 5 but apparently not enough. How many ships do I need to take out 100 fighters?
Thanks,
Ken

It can take a lot. The medium fighter, with armor, shields, ecm and its own size bonus can be tough in Groups of 10 or 20. It's good that you made it to PDC5. Now, armor and shield your Aegis ships. Add one beam weapon so it doesn't run away Two or three in your fleet should let you get in.

Re: Lotsa fighters...
Another method would be to build a ship specific to fighter combat. IE a ship with 80% PDC V. Add a beam weapon to keep it from running away, and armor.

Re: Lotsa fighters...
If you want a whacky suggestion, make a ship with higher movement than the rest of your ships, put on a single weapon (warhead) and put a ton of shields or armor on board.
Now give it a new strategy so that it will ram things and set the priority for "fighters, fastest, smallest, has weapons". If it doesn't destroy a few clumps of fighters, it should have atleast softened them up a bunch.
Rinse and repeat

Re: Lotsa fighters...
Ships with PPB are good too: it skip the fighter's shields.

Re: Lotsa fighters...
MB, aren't shields on units considered hit points of the unit, and not actually shields?
