Trouble upgrading to 2.12
Sorry to bring this up again but it's driving me nuts. Can someone please help me work out what's going wrong. I have 3 saved games from 2.11, each of which has 3 files in the saved game dir: ftherlnd, race.trn and race.2h
I've worked out that it's the .trn files causing the problem - if I remove those, the program allows me to choose Play Existing Game for the game but doesn't show me any races to choose from (simply says "Host" or "Exit"). However, even clicking Host doesn't work, because it hangs on "generating new turn".
If the .trn file is present in the game dir, Dom2 crashes with "game is broken".
I have scoured all three files with a hex editor for any drive/path references, and can't find any.
Am I the only person to have this problem??
Do the devs have any idea what's going on?
Please help,
CC

Re: Trouble upgrading to 2.12
I think that the game is just broken. Have you tried reinstalling back to 2.11, and seeing if the game remains broken?

Funny you should say that - I tried it as you were typing. Uninstalled, reinstalled, patched to 2.11 ... and lo, all three games are still "broken".
So, if I want to preserve any other savegames, what do I need to save other than the game dir??
Me, I think it's a path issue, but damned if I can find out. I can't even remember the path it was previously installed on. I guess I could create a new game, uninstall, reinstall to a different drive, and see if I can reinstate the game .....

It's definitely not pathing, because I've moved games across entirely different computers and even operating systems, and they've worked fine. If it doesn't even work when reverted back to 2.11, then it sounds like the files are simply corrupted. Perhaps whatever prompted you to reinstall everything damaged the files, and they're just toast.

All three games corrupted when nothing else was? Weird.
Ho hum. Time to start afresh.
