Ok, I have my first image with DOGA and now I want to add some color to the ship hull.

1) What is the best way to do it?

2) If I need two images, one 500x500 and the other was ???x???, how do I get DOGA to save in that size?

Are you using DoGA 3? If so, click on the part you want to click (Shift-click or drag and multi-select to select more than a part) and then double click on "noname" under part attributes. Then experiment.

For number 2, place your mouse over "display" (right next to help) and click on rendering options. You'll see 2 query boxes under resolutions asking you for the dimensions of the render you want to render. Change them accordingly.
