Population Required to Operate One Facility ?
In the data/settings.txt directory, I saw this line:
Population Required to Operate One Facility := 50
Presumably, this would mean that you would need 25 * 50 = 1250 million colonists to operate all 25 facilities on a huge planet?
I think this *would* be a great feature. But I'm sure we can all agree that it has been implemented yet.
Is there another data file somewhere that will turn this on? Or, is this something that just hasn't been implemented yet?
Thanks!

Re: Population Required to Operate One Facility ?
Your right. If this was implemented the strategy of the game would improve.
The program could be set as a percentage. For instance, If you had 9 facilities on the planet with a population of 90 million, each facility would be at a 10% production level.
The other factors happiness, etc. would then be factored into this equation.
Or it could be setup that the player could allocate population to the facilities depending on need. A selection of factors could be entered into this retraining, lack of productivity, population unhappiness, etc.

Re: Population Required to Operate One Facility ?
Guys,
The numbers you are using are too large. We can say the the US has the largest industrial in the world and our whole population is approx 260 million. We know a faction of that is being used to run everything. So while a nice idea I think it too detailed for this game. ALso remember you get space yard production bonues for population total.

But OTOH, there's bloody well more than 25 Facilities in the US. But Earth's a Medium planet, I'd assume. So we've got at most 15 facilities on the whole planet!
Points: we're looking at weird scales as to what 1 facility represents (perhaps the US == 2-4?), and/or we're looking at unrealistic limits on how many facilities can be on a planet. Even considering the former point, I think the latter point stands (Space Yards of course being the best example). However, it all comes down to game balance in the end...

Re: Population Required to Operate One Facility ?
I do wish MM would enable this. People who don't want to use it can just set it to 0 like people who don't want to use multiple engines per move can just leave the default settings in vehiclesize.txt alone.
As for comparing the numbers used in SE to our idustrial system(s) here on earth -- forget it! This is a completely different kind of economics we're talking about in SE. Who knows how things might work when you can order in supplies from other solar systems and you are building products to be shipped out to other solar systems? Each "facility" represents a VERY large scale operation. Our entire nation security apparatus -- CIA, NSA, and whatever other agencies are still secret -- probably represent ONE or TWO intelligence facilities in this game.
