Huge experience boost
Is this a bug, or have I missed an event somewhere? :
I loaded a saved game and remembered I'd sent out a Harvester to scout and spread disease. When I checked on it, I discovered it was in the hall of fame and had 5 stars of experience.
I looked in the hall of fame and it's sitting there with 25705 xp! It has zero kills and has never, to my knowledge, been involved in a battle.
(the next two places are taken by Orion and Bogus.. best non-indep place is a Ctis hero with 20 kills and 273xp)

Re: Huge experience boost
Mkay, it is a bug.. next turn it lost the xp and fell out the hall of fame (though it still had the heroic ability).
Turn after that it went up to 11k xp and is back in the hall of fame.
Very odd..

Re: Huge experience boost
Looks like it generates about 9k exp each turn, and there's a overflow at 32767 ...

Re: Huge experience boost
What I don't understand is those red heroic experience stars. I thought that if
you got one of them then you are in the Hall of Fame, and vice versa.
Obviously not, though, since I've had commanders with the star that are not listed on the HoF, and vice versa. So then, what determines who gets heroic experience?

Re: Huge experience boost
You've got it right. A unit will get a "red star" skill once it enters the Hall of Fame. The skill will continue to improve as long as the unit is still in the Hall of Fame (even if it is dead) If the unit is booted from the Hall of Fame by the progress of other units, they do not lose the ability. It merely ceases to improve until the unit is again in the Hall of Fame.
I'd guess what you're seeing is the product of that "turn over". Your units are making the list, probably at the lowest position, and gaining the abilities. They then get "bumped' off the list by another up-and-coming unit and so have the ability but are no longer on the list.
