Admin values from Castle in Home Province
I have almost always chosen a castle, because I like the high admin values both for tax purposes and recruiting troops. But trying out races in which I dont need high resources, at least not in the home province, I was wondering:
Does the admin value affect the *income* of your home province as well? I tried experimenting, and I dont see much difference between a mausoleum and a castle, but then again, it is hard to test since not all starting pops are identical and terrain types are different (or does that not matter?).
So if you are playing a nation which doesnt really rely on high-resource troops, is taking a higher admin castle still worth it for the income only?

Re: Admin values from Castle in Home Province
Though question. Yes, admin does indeed increase income. No, it does not make sense to purchase a high admin castle for a nation who needs little resources. It would be better to go for higher scales (growth or order) so you get better overall income or go for a tougher fort.
Also low admin strongholds allows for placing more of them in the same area without robbing inbetween provinces of all resources. Low resource nations often need high resource indep units to take the blows for them.

Re: Admin values from Castle in Home Province
The admin level of the fortress increases income. With 30.000 people you get about 3/4 of the admin bonus in gold.
Income with normal scales and without fortress is 150 gold (Home Province, 30.000 people)
Additional for the fortress:
~6 with 10% admin
~15 with 20% admin
~23 with 30% admin
~28 with 40% admin
~36 with 50% admin

Re: Admin values from Castle in Home Province
Hey thanks very much, both of you, this is very helpful. I've been doing this wrong all the time then. 15 extra gold (diff between Mausoleum and Castle) may just not be worth those 40 points if I can spend those 40 on growth, or even luck.
Also, the smaller castles come cheaper (and faster). I need at least 10 turns to pay for the difference between a 300 and a 450 castle.
This is food for thought.

But what about supplies then? I usually pay the 120points for a wizard's tower to keep my low-resource, but hungry Caelum troops from starving. Could nature+3 help there more than the 200 supply 20admin wizard tower?

Re: Admin values from Castle in Home Province
I'm not sure what role admin playes in supply distribution but I know you get a supply boost while inside a four province radius of a fortress. High Growth helps a lot, but only in your own dominion. A good castle helps anywhere and since Caelum can and should launch attacks behind the frontline this might be a better idea than improved scales. All in all I'd say you made a good decision choosing the Wizard's Tower (though it's a heavy investment).
