Default Alliances?

The newbie/expert thread got me thinking about this.

As allies in an MP game, can I send gems, gold, or even gift troops to another player? I vaguely remember being able to send tribute but don't recall where the option is.

Now obviously, D2 doesn't allow true alliances. But could maybe a patch allow something similar to Kohan where allied armies could be supplied from my provinces as they pass through, could see what I see on the map, and be gifted with resources, troops, and items?

I could conceivably make an economic powerhouse and feed all the results to an ally holding the front lines.

Do the devs plan to devlope that facet of D2? THAT would really add some new depth. Good material for an expansion pack perhaps?

You can send Gems/Gold/Items, but no troops. Though you can arrange for a "Trade" with Commanders with a degree of success.

I don't think a Supply or "Going through Allies Territory" is a bad idea at all. Though how hard it would be code would be interesting.

I however, don't feel that shared vision should be given. Because even if you're allies, sometimes you like to keep some information to yourself.

BTW, in the game setup options I'd like to see somrthing like 'trade between nations is enabled/disabled'.

Right!

And to address Zen's concern I could toggle "share map" or "share intel" or some such.

Also having three armies battles could be very interesting. Such as 2 allies defending the castle against an enemy hordes, or trying to conquer it together.

Nit likely to hapen for Dom2 though, since it would probably require significant changes in the code. But maybe for Dom3?...

There are workarounds for moving thru an allies territory, trading commanders, and even up to a point seeing each others maps. Since the advantages of various nations is built around such things its not likely it will become a menu item for everyone to use
