Adding Chlorine atmosphere. ??
I am going to see if chlorine armospheres can be added to SEIV. Looks to me like all one has to do is add appropriate lines (with calls to appropriate green plant pics of correct size) in secttype.txt and systemstype.txt file in data folder.
only question I have is do I HAVE to add chlorine atmosphere to rock & ice for this to work? My intention is for this to be gas giant only IF possible.
if any one has any ideas or comments (no profanity please!) go ahead and please make them.

Re: Adding Chlorine atmosphere. ??
Try Argon. Last time I searched the executable (yeah, I'm a desperate enough snoop to do that ) there were still mentions of Argon atmosphere. Maybe we could persuade MM to change it to Chlorine since that makes more sense as an atmosphere for life -- it's chemically active while Argon is nearly inert.

Well, I guess that you'd have to do a lot of work to get it in the game.
Youd have to make the pictures of the planets, describe the planets in the proper file(s), place the planets in the galaxy, etc. etc.. A good deal of work sounds like.

The two will hover, spinning inches above the ground. With a giant buttered cat array, a high-speed monorail could easily link New York with Chicago.

Baron, I don't have any of those programming Languages to fiddle with the .exe file.
So, unless I can merely change a .txt, I won't be able to mess with it.
Now if one of the true Mod Squad folks took on the project....

*chuckle*
When folks on this forum suggest changes which require game engine changes, they don't want to disappoint you by saying that this will require Malfador's assistance. Instead, they tell you the absolute truth. If you can re-program the game, you can make the change.
Silly, silly people. But what do you expect from a man who has been both to the moon and to Hades itself. For a man like that, nothing is impossible.

Re: Adding Chlorine atmosphere. ??
How does pointing out that there are still mentions of Argon atmosphere currently EMBEDDED IN THE EXECUTABLE require a rewrite of the game engine? Is it really such a huge leap of logic to suggest that the game might still recognze the Argon atmosphere? Planets can be found for either the argon or chlorine atmosphere by editing the planet types file and reassigning some of the current pictures. Lots of those green "Carbon Dioxide" planets look more like chlorine planets to me.
