Hey, playing a game using the new patch (v1.27b) with full AI on i noticed the troop transporter had no weaponry on it at all, as it's a military craft should there not be some sort of weaponry on it. When in combat mode it runs like hell until it reaches a corner then just waits until destroyed. Also even though ECM and shields have been researched why does it not utilise them.

In theory, one might make a design decision to build an unarmed transport to use the space saved for extra cargo. But if a human does that, he won't send that transport out without an armed escort. The AI might not be smart enough to use convoys this way.

The "running to the corner" behavior is how the "Don't Get Hurt" Strategy plays out.

I was a bit premature in my post cause the A.I does equip troop transporters with weapons, but, according to the A.I game i'm doing, it put on board P.D3 cannons about 25-30 turns after the first transporter was manufactured, so by that token, yes they do, but, they don't equip with the first available weaponry.
