OT: Movies...
Apparently, the're making a War of the Worlds remake: (Again, from the Baen forums)

The theater trailer for the March release is now available.
The war machine actually looks like a war machine, the English army actually uses period weapons and uniforms, and the scenes are identifiable.

Re: OT: Movies...
God save us. Oh please save us from this. Why can't people just accept what was done and instead of making a remake that is going to be horribly made, make something new and market it to the sci-fi channel. At least then we will all know its craph and won't have to waste $8.00 to find out.
I wonder when they are going to do a remake of the Forbidden Planet, or the Day The Earth Stood Still?

Re: OT: Movies...
Are any movies of today not remakes of, rip-offs of or "inspired by" another movie/series/comic?

Re: OT: Movies...
Are you aware there are in fact 2 versions coming out. The low budget version and the Steven Spielberg effort, starring Tom Cruise?. I read the aliens use tripods but they aren't martians.

Re: OT: Movies...
Sequels and ripoffs are a much 'safer' form of income than original pictures, being as that while they rarely succeed bigtime they usually succeed financially.

AT, I refer you to this re-qoute 'The war machine actually looks like a war machine, the English army actually uses period weapons and uniforms, and the scenes are identifiable.'
In other words, there's hope.

Re: OT: Movies...
That was a great line wasn't it? I loved that.

Re: OT: Movies...
Still prefer the Season 7 Finale quote.
SG1 with booze in Jack O'Neill's front room
Drunk Daniel: "Oh come on, Teal'c Is the Deepest Guy I know, Say something Deep teal'c, I bet you won't even understand this!"
Teal'c "My Depth is Immaterial to this Conversation..."
Jack: "No more drink for you Daniel!"
Or something along those lines

Re: OT: Movies...
I like the quote someone around here has.
While starting the Prometheus.
O'Neil: Inertial dampeners?
Carter: Check
O'Neil: Phasers?
Carter: Sorry sir.

Ahem...not to be pedantic, but it was actually (if my memory is correct) when they were first flying the X-302, not the Prometheus. The quote goes:
Carter: Inertial dampeners?
O'Neil: Cool....and check. Phasers?
Carter: Sorry, sir.
