				Once in a blue moon.

I had a boring day today. Why?, you ask. Ok you didn't ask but I'm going to tell you anyway. None of my PBW games needed a turn today. Occasioanlly I have done all my turns but that is only at the end of the day and by the next day more have generated. Today however none of my games needed doing. I had such a surplus of spare time I actually chose to do some house maintenance . I don't think this has ever happened before.

Wow, that must be rare. I've never seen a blue moon in my life, they're always black because they have no atmosphere.

Technically, the term "blue moon" is defined as the second full moon in a single month. Since there are almost always 13 full moons in a year, "once in a blue moon" is almost equivalent to "once per year".

There's never oxygen moons in SEIV though... Unless it's modded of course.

I would say a blue moon is a bit more unlikely, more like every two or three years: there is roughly 354 days between 12 full moons (29.5 days per full moon, again on average), leaving 11 days on the average year for a 13th full moon, so the odds of it would fall somewhere between 1/2 and 1/3.
Though I haven't checked their calculations (I gather they are much better at maths than myself), this calculator gives 9 blue moons between 2004 and 2024.

It appears the number I pulled was counting the current definition of blue moon and the old definition of the third full moon in a season of four full moons. Which apparently was very important for the old lunar Christian ecclesiastical calendar. Thirteen moons a year would throw it all out so ignoring one of the moons as a 'Blue Moon' kept it all together.
You learn something every day, even if it is of no real use, then again the same could be said of my uni lecture today. 'Dredging hydraulic transport technology.' Less exciting than it sounds trust me

It is entirely possible for two planets in the same ring to be randomly chosen for the same location. In that case, one will be the moon of the other, and since most of these are ANY/ANY/ANY, there is a fair chance for the moon to be oxy

I always thought that a 'Blue Moon' meant just that - The moon looks blue - Because I have actually observed this phonomenon.

I don't think so - or at least I've never seen it happen in stock SE:IV.

A quick poke on 'tut interweb and it comes out at 17 blue moons in the next 20 years, mind you there will be some years with two blue moons in apparently.

Unless its the blue moons after Krakatoa or anything else that spits out lots of 1 micron particles. Then you can see a real blue moon
