what to do next?

i just finished building my first sphere-world ( whohooooo!!!! ), and i don't know what to do next....i'm 1st with 1.1 million points, 2nd is the cue-cappa with 700k points (they were just lucky that they didn't start near me ) .

i've already researched everything, it's not all good to have 200,000 research points, when everything is done you have to locate all of them and replace them with more useful fac.

i guess i have two options right now

1. fall back to my home system, fill my sphere world with monolith facilities, and the bonus fac. of course, (btw does a value improvement plant work with sphereworlds? ) , destroy all my old ships, wait for the ai to completely take over the other 8 or 9 systems, in the mean time building a super-duper-high-tech mega-fleet and wipe out the every race that claims my home system.

2. or i could try and conpuer every planet there is and succesfully defend them untill i have conquered the entire galaxy


suggestions anyone ??

I believe there's a Players menu which lets you toggle who's AI and who's human.

On your SW, you can use value improvement plants. And remember -- like climate plants, they stack; since you have the space, and presumably a lot of resources, you can afford to build, say, 5+ VIFs.

That's if you *need* the resources, of course. You could always turn the planet into an intelligence monster, although intel is useless after a certain point (12 x max-op-cost).

You may be able to simply build one heck of a mobile fleet. Even if there are warp points, you can explore more systems if you include warp and repair ships in your fleet, since you can stack warp points and warping only costs 1 MP; this can save you lots of intrasystem travel time, which can save your sanity if there are a lot of systems in the quadrant.

I've done this and it makes for a cool game...

Give away everything but your SphereWorld and declare war on everyone!!!(just be sure to have a few WP's on planet and no ships in orbit).

You start with no ships but a pretty decent resource / planet base. Since you're all 'researched out', build Intel centers and pray the AI doesn't PPP you...

i've begun retreating all my ships to my home system, am also scrapping any of the old facilities on the normal planets and building resource storage on all of them, and some intel of course.

i'm still leaving the fighters and satellites intact at the front, so they can buy me some time, the praetorian empire is getting smarter/stronger however.

I've got 80 fighters on a warp point, they can destroy an enemy dreadnought in one turn, but since the dreadnought has two PD I lose two fighter every time he sends one through the warp point. But the Last couple of turns he kept sending 2 or 3 at a time taking out at least 8 fighters for two dreadnoughts, so i'll start losing my first planets pretty soon.

i'm still setting up defenses in my home system, weapons platform mostly. i don't think i'll things away, well maybe if the AI takes too long to get close to me, he has to cross at least 3 systems.

and i tried switching to a smaller empire, but then i'll have to reorganize everything and i think that takes too much time.

i also noticed a little imbalance maybe.
2nd position has 850k points
3rd posotion has 700k points
4th position has 650K points
5th position has 450K points

both number 2 and 3 have a psychich trait number 4 are the terrans and as you know they are missile-happy-fighter-loving people
all of the other players use beam weapons and torpedo's, quite a big difference if you ask me...
