Repairs have ceased to happen.. Any ideas?
Hiyo! Playing a game, Koth challenge for the head of the hill to be specific and well..
My ships have ceased to repair themselves.
It doesn't matter if I have repair bays, spaceyards on the planet or make a new ship with the same components as the one I wish to repair and refit it to that name. Nothing happens. Well.. it refits but doesn't repair..
I have PILES of repair capability and precisely 0 components are being fixed. This has now occurred three turns in a row and is becoming a very very serious problem.
Although I know it doesn't affect it in the least I have lots of min/org/rad resources.
Base seV, no mods, things used to repair just fine, it just stopped for some reason..
I could use some help here as I am perfectly game to lose due to my ineptness but not because the game is freaking out on me!
Thanks!

Re: Repairs have ceased to happen.. Any ideas?
Only things I can think of:
are the ships to repair and the repair yards/space yards in the same sector?
are the repair components damaged as well?
has your empire taken points away from repair?
The last two would probably slow down repair so it's not noticable, but I can't think of anything else...

Oooh. Repair priorities!
Try clearing the list, and then re-adding a just a few items. Engines is good.

Here is a thread to the last time someone had a repair problem.
repair problem
Summary: Must have at least one component on the ship needing repair that is listed on the right side of the repair priority list.

I haven't had a chance to test it but that must be the answer. I looked and somehow I have nothing in the repair priority list. I'll let ya know in a bit!

Re: Repairs have ceased to happen.. Any ideas?
I'm pretty sure that the sequence of the items on the right side determines the order of ships to be repaired. That is, if my right side starts out:
Weapons
Engines
then if I have two damaged ships in the same sector with repair yards, and only one has a damaged weapon, but both have engine damage, then the one with the damaged weapon will be repaired first, starting with repairing the weapons on that ship, then its engines, then the engines on the ship which had no damaged weapons.
So, I don't think there is any reason not to have everything listed on the right - the left is mainly useful to arrange the sequence of the entries on the right.

That's what I thought for years.
But I hadn't really cared much about it until I got into some big Carrier Battles.
With all those damaged ships lying around, it was a perfect testing ground.

I specifically tested this a while back, and my test clearly established that the order of the list does not matter at all. I did not consider at that time the possibility of whether something is on the list at all being the important thing, but SJ has apparently had a lot of experience with it and I'm willing to take his word for it.

Re: Repairs have ceased to happen.. Any ideas?
I may have read something wrongly but it seems that you are saying that ships with no priority repairs will get repaired after all priority ships have been fully repaired. No?
Well, I can say that in this case I had ships with 2-3 components needing repairs not get repaired at all for three turns in a row while 40+ repair points stood by and watched. This was with no repair priorities set, everything was to the left.
There were no other ships there needing repairs, absolutely nothing got repaired.
Shrug, I shan't make that mistake again! All fixed now at any rate!
