SE5 preview at The Wargamer
FYI, I wrote a short preview of SE5 which was just published at The Wargamer. You folks (not to mention the beta testers) probably know just about everything there, and since it's a pre-release preview, it doesn't make qualitative judgements about the unreleased game, but for the curious, see here .

Re: SE5 preview at The Wargamer
Thanks for keeping the games we love in a "high-profile" PvK, I know this is the second preview in as many weeks for you.

Re: SE5 preview at The Wargamer
So, you plan on making a Proportions mod for SE5???
Actually, I thought you were a beta tester, PvK, but from the look of that preview it was like you'd never played the game before - you said you got a special copy courtesy of The Wargamer?

Re: SE5 preview at The Wargamer
Thanks folks.
I was Shrapnel test lead on SE4 and beta tester on Star Fury, but not on SE5.
I got The Wargamer's preview copy to write the article. I hadn't seen it before. Shortly after we got that, the demo was released, which I think is a slightly newer version than the 0.90 preview, but of course has many features disabled.
I expect I won't be able to resist doing a mod for SE5 at some point, though probably not until a while after the release. I expect Malfador will be modding via patch for a while after release, as he usually does. I can see lots of potential for mods, though.

Re: SE5 preview at The Wargamer
0.90? Hehe, the demo is 1.00, I pity you for all the bugs you must have had to endure; the demo was buggy enough

Re: SE5 preview at The Wargamer
Well I looked at it as a preview rather than something to get too much into playing. We'll see what the release version is like. I remember though even with SE4, I wasn't really completely satisfied until the Gold edition release.

You picked some great action-packed screenshots for that article.

The demo version leaves some doubts whether the release version will be polished enough to satisfy the veteran fans, but if Malfador Machinations comes anywhere near its previous record of post-release support, it should only be a matter of time.

well put.

Re: SE5 preview at The Wargamer
Thanks guys.
Ya, I spent some hours with the full version getting two empires with different shipsets researched up to interesting levels. The final (simulated) space battles for the screenshots were nice and spectacular, though.
