Changing default config
Is there a way to edit the default config? So everytime I create a single player map the settings are the same? Maybe even by age (a la site %/research)?
For instance I usually play a randomized version of the Faerun map (outdated I know, waiting patiently for a new version) and I restart frequently and wish I could just set the settings (a "restart map" command would be sweet as well) minimal times.
There is a dom3config file - but no idea how to edit it.

Re: Changing default config
Are you using Windows?
Right-Click the dominions icon on your desk. Check the properties. I have mine set to do this...
"D:\Program Files\dominions3\dom3.exe" -fwacd --magicsites 75 --renaming --indepstr 7 --hofsize 15 --eventrarity 1
The fwacd does things like set it for windowed mode, no fades, no animated backgrounds, no credit screen at the end. I also set the magic sites to 75, renaming on, indepts to 7, half of fame to 15, and events common. You still get the screen on each game that lets you change those but at least it will come up with my preferences as a default.
You could also tell it what era and map to use each time if you really wanted to.
The entire list of command line switches is available here..

Re: Changing default config
Instead of tinkering with the command line options of the Dom3 icon or the start menue link, what can be a bit finnicky at times, you could make a new file "domstart.cmd" in your dominions directory and edit it to include the (single) line:
dom3.exe -fwacd --magicsites 75 --renaming --indepstr 7 --hofsize 15 --eventrarity 1
That will leave a small command line window open in the background as long as Dom3.exe runs, though ... .

Re: Changing default config

Re: Changing default config
K, only thing I'm missing now are the different victory conditions - I see VP, how about dominion or provinces?
Is this an inclusive list or partial? --dominion and --province don't work, just curious.
Makes me very happy as is though
randomly wierd thing too - after running the bat file and selecting new game, I can't cancel out to the main menu. Had to actually alt-tab and shut down the process. No worries, just odd.

Re: Changing default config
Strange .. what are your command line options, and which version of Dom are you running ?
I just tried the line gandalf gave above, and canceling out of the "new game" screen worked just fine. But then, I only have 3.01 and 3.03 installed atm ... .
Or do you simply mean the button is not there? It is - scroll down the list of maps or use the X in the upper left corner of the grey-brown frame.
