Patching and still having 3.06 too?
I need to patch to 3.08, but I still need access to 3.06 for a multiplayer game I'm in.
This is cut from the patch thread.
Go into your Dominions3 folder, copy/paste the dom exe file to you desktop, rename it to 306 for example. Install 3.08 patch. Now cut/paste 306 back to where you got it from. To do your MP games remember to load the game with 306, otherwise load normally to enjoy 3.08.
Just wanna make sure that works before I do it.

Re: Patching and still having 3.06 too?
The patch alters multiple files, not just the exe. The exe is the most important, of course, and you probably don't need to backup the other files, but I can't say for sure. I have put the 3.06 files which are being updated in 3.08 for Windows here: http://www.mediafire.com/?edgtzyyfyon
Just overwrite the 3.08 files with these and you have 3.06 back.

Re: Patching and still having 3.06 too?
So just run the patch to 3.08, and then every time you need to connect to a 3.06 just overwrite those back in?
And to get back to 3.08 after that just run the patch again right?

Re: Patching and still having 3.06 too?
Just copy the whole \dominions3\ folder to (e.g.) \dominions3_306\
Copy the links in your start menue as well and change name and path accordingly.
Especially if you need it only for a MP game or two, you need not copy / might delete all the non-needed maps to keep the size small, and add command line paratmeters to the start menue entries to directly connect to the server
(e.g. "Link Target" : D:\GAMES\dominions3_306\dom3.exe -faw --res 1024 768 --tcpclient --ipadr 111.222.333.444 --port 1234)

Re: Patching and still having 3.06 too?
If you use desktop icons like I do then you wont even notice the difference. I have a desktop icon for each game and it gives the server IP and port so I dont have to type that in each time. So the desktop icon for MegaMunch goes to the any1can.net server on 9999 and the bl_scrunchy icon goes to game.dom3minions.com on 8111. You could easily have the 3.06 games icon go to the 306 directory along with all the other settings.

Re: Patching and still having 3.06 too?
Yeah I didn't even think of that Gandalf. I guess I will just install 3.08 and move 3.06 over to it's own directly and only link to it with my MP shortcut that uses it.
Thanks for the help.
