Special Independents
I really like the idea of having alot of special independent units on the map. Ie, tough army's and map areas to take over.
Is there a mod out there that you can randomly increase the amount of specail units on the map?

Re: Special Independents
No mod can do that. The chance of random independent provinces having special defenders is fairly small and cannot be modded. There are some external programs where you give a map file as input and get a completely or partially randomized version of the same map file as output, with lots of special provinces. If you want really chaotic stuff, ask Gandalf Parker. Ballbarian is the other guy to talk to, look up his Semi-RanDom application in the Maps & Mods subforum.

Re: Special Independents
As Edi said, mods don't do this. Ballbarian's SemiRandom juices the maps up with player-made contributions, which might vary from Abysians protecting a Volcano site to a mighty Camelot guarded by King Arthur and his knights. Gandalf's maps are just random values, but can have quite interesting results. The ones I've tried have added e.g. 1 random unit as a commander into every province, and given him 5 random units as bodyguards. Anything from militia to Dragon to knight to aboleth could be the commander, and the bodyguards vary just as much. From Longbowman guarded by 5 Arch Theurg units (as opposed to commanders; the bodyguards are unable to use their magic) to a Jade Priestess guarded by 5 Gargoyles, provinces will vary from barely noticeable to interesting and then to impossibly hard, something that's just as unpassable as the Atlantic would be for a lone Abysian.

Re: Special Independents
Thanks for the input. I haven't quite figured out to use the semi randomizer yet, but I'll keep messing with it.
