Default Some questions.

1. Can you assassinate someone who is besieging your castle?

2. If you kill commanders who are sieging your castle with for example a Seeking Arrow, do his troops siege for that turn?

3. How much food does a horse eat? That is, do a horseman and his horse eat more than a footsoldier?

4. When are are being sieged, your food goes down. If you have enough magical wine for everyone, do you care?

5. When you are being sieged, do you keep your gems from that province?

1) yes

2) no

3) Units use size-1 supplies per turn. You can see a unit's size by clicking on h.p.. Horsemen are typically size 3 and thus use twice as many resources as typical size 2 foot soldiers.

4) no. But this may require a lot of wine. Supplies can approach 0 in a long siege.

5) yes

So, there is nothing besiegers can do? Even patrolling does not help because assassins sleep inside the castle?

1. Yes. I've done that recently. The inverse can't be done, however. If you're sieging a castle, you can't assassinate the defender- at least by mundane means.

2. I can't tell for sure, but I believe they don't. I believe I've prevented troop movement by assassination, I suppose you could prevent sieges as well.

3. Barring specials such as gluttonous demons, or no need to eat undead, food is related to size. Check the manual for the specifics. But I believe a cavalryman takes two units of food, while infantry 1. Click on HP for size information.

4. No. Enough booze prevents starvation. I wouldn't say it would be too healthy, or that your sentries would be dependable- but fortunately drunkenness isn't modeled.

5. Yes... I think - but I haven't really kept a close eye on the situation. To test, just start a game near Jotunheim as Agartha. Wait until they siege your castle. It should happen soon enough.

Second post deleted, included into this one.
What can the besiegers do? I don't know if patrol works- it might. But they can use crappy commanders to lead smaller brigades of besiegers- assassination is randomly targeted.

So do size 1 units not use any food then? Like Hoburgs...at least I think they're size 1.

The besiegers can patrol, although patrolling squads do not count for siege damage. Even though an assassin may "sleep" in the castle, if he ventures out to conduct assassinations, he can be caught by units on patrol.

As for the question of whether or not size 1 units use food - I am not sure, but I would guess no.

Hoburgs eat the dreams of children, not food.
