An Armor modding question

I was watching an episode of ST:Voyager, and they mentioned the Borg Cube had a kind of "regenerative armor". Later, Seven of Nine refered to it as "Nanotech Molecular Armor".

I was wondering - Is there a means to create an armor type that would "Regenerate", albeit slowly, some off the damage done to it?
