Stars Supernova
Have any of you checked this game out? Right now its in a beta. I like what I see, but I think SEIV will still have far more playabilitiy and editiblity over it.

Offically, I will stay with SEIV.

Re: Stars Supernova
I have been following it loosely too. I personally don't like the "strategic" combat concept they have used b/c my favorite part is designing ships and then using them in a tactical combat exercise. Although they claim that their "rule sets" and AI are "completely programmable", I will withhold opinion until it is released to see whether it truly lives up to that reputation.

Re: Stars Supernova
Certainly looks impressive. I like the way they have implemented FTL movement, alliances, intel, passive/ active scanning and especially population movement.
The combat looks promising in that it uses newtonian motion and unlimited battlefields, but it looks to me like a complete "black-box" approach, which I dislike.
I don't like the idea of "galactic currency", the lack of mixed-species empires, and I'll reserve judgement on tech trees and ship design until I see more details.
It won't run on my computer anyway so I'll be quite happy to stick with SEIV... As long as I'm not the only one left on this forum...

Re: Stars Supernova
I have been following it for the Last year or so. I used to play the older stars game against people in the early 90's. It looks good. Their humour really makes the game. I hope it is as good as the first game. I could still play that game. Micro management to the max. Games took years to finish. Longest one I was in Lasted 3 years. I died and the game carried on another year. It started with 16 players and I was the 5 Last player.
I will be buying a copy of it when it comes out.
Moo3 as well.
