Complete List of Mercenaries, Mercs, Mercenarys
Since this has been asked for several times on the forum, especially by new players to the game, here is a list I've compiled of all (I hope) the Mercenaries available in the vanilla version of the game.
Notes.
- The title of this post is designed to make it as easy as possible to find with the search function.
- I have indicated any extra abilities above the expected norm which I think are useful to know about. eg. "Black Bone's Pirates" Commander has the Sailing Ability. These notes are very limited though, and will be expanded in future versions of this list.
- Any magic paths on a commander will be listed in the (brackets) after the commander unit name.
- I have not yet indicated with a unit id number which exact troop comes with each group. eg. Heavy Infantry could be one of several. This is another job for later versions of the list!
- It would appear that certain mercenaries only appear in certain ages. eg. "Otto the Great" seems to only appear in Early Age. I've marked the mercenaries I think this applies to, although it needs further testing or confirmations to be sure this is the case.
If anyone spots any mistakes (very likely) or if I've left any out (less likely) can they please let me know. Also, if there are any extra abilities which I've left out which I should have considered as important but didn't.

Hhhmmmmm curious
The list was compiled by running 3 test games in MA with max nations until year 15. In all the games the merc lists were empty for the last 3-4 years, and neither the Giant Ettin or the Eternal Knights showed up in any of them. But if they do exist then I guess I need to run some more tests!!
Edit - nor Madam Fortuna.
Will run more test games later today and update the list. Does anyone know if the game era affects which mercs show up? I thought it didn't, but maybe it does.

Thanks for bumping this, even though you quoted 10k worth of text twice. I can use this.
As for the speculation, without looking I would assume that u4 are nation ids, u5 the percentage of the gold price for said nation, u6 a limitation on the age in which the mercs appear, u2 and u3 could be min/max values for turns during which the mercs appear or how long they are available.
