Hilarity ensues post victory
Download the attached turn file and watch the battle at Knightmarsh. The battle is epic, but continue to watch after the first army routs as craziness will happen.
This battle occurred in a llamaserver MP match. The game was Silvan and it only recently ended so I can now reveal to you the weirdest battle (as in funny weird not buggy weird) I've ever seen.
Edit: For spoilers, skip right to the naritive.
Edit: Link to the map. The game also requires two sets of mods. Conceptual Balance v1.21: Segmented Version and Worthy Heroes v1.8. For the CB Segmented Mod you only need the scales and pretenders.

That battle was nuts. Our hero the Vastness received a Silver Star for that one. Not that it meant squat once the terror of Ermor was unleashed.

However, I didn't understand why didn't your troops retreat as well. Bug or do I misunderstand something?

Re: Hilarity ensues post victory
I posted the links to the maps and mods onto the original post. As for the why my troops didn't rout, I think it has solely to do with the skelly spam. The additional troops kept my total army hp above 25%.
By the way Jim, I'm not sure if you know this or not (I didn't want to say it during the game) but Vastnesses have astral 3 when you GoR them. It's like a silver star but better because now you have a move 10 flying commander thing with astral magic.

It doesn't matter when the turns come to their limit. I don't remember the exact numbers but attacker should always rout on turn 50 and your troops didn't rout and died when the turn limit was over. And that is what I don't understand in this battle.

Watch again, my units rout eventually. My god retreated south of where the battle took place.
As for the slots, I do beleive it gets two misc slots. Also, the point is really more to reward the vastness for the good job it did. Besides, a mage who, for free, can be in any battle you need him to be in isn't bad at all. I wouldn't use it as a thug, but with a crystal coin and amulet of antimagic you have a really durable astral 4 mage.

Re: Hilarity ensues post victory
Yeah, there's a hero Vastness you get occasionally, so I knew they're pretty awesome. But Nature income was pretty tight since I didn't have a searcher for the first 3 years at all, so I mostly blew what I had on the GoH.
If our war with Ermor hadn't been starting so soon, I might have gotten him home for that eventually, but it just wasn't in the cards that game.
Was my first MP with R'lyeh (and I think second at all), so I really just wasn't aggressive enough at the start, or I mighta done some nifty things. Next time! So many nations to play. And most of them don't get any Paralyzed Vastness exploits.

I didn't notice it. No problem then.

Once again, Vastness is (if memory serves) the only creature in the game with no slots at all.
