The player Unoptimized recently reported some laptop/Vista problems, but has since gone out of contact and started staling. As a result we are looking for a sub to take over Unoptimized's nation of Sauromatia in the large scale 'Legends of Faerun' game.
At this stage I unfortunately can not say for sure whether this sub position will be temporary or permanent, as when or if Unoptimized will return is completely unknown right now.

Ok, here's the low-down as far as I can tell. Sauromatia are currently one of the top nations in the game, mainly because of their strong research position and fort base. And of course because Sauromatia are just a very powerful nation fullstop. They were also riding a lot higher on the province/gem/income scores until recently, when they lost a lot of provinces, most likely due to the stales.
On the war front, from the graphs it is probably safe to say that Sauromatia are currently at war with Yomi. And the Pangaea player has also indicated on the game thread that they recently cancelled their NAP with Sauromatia. Although as a sign of good sportsmanship, the Pangaea player has agreed to re-instate the 3-turn NAP if a sub if found. So it is likely that Sauromatia only has the one war going on with Yomi. Although I could well be wrong. The good news is though that Sauromatia don't appear to have lost any troops during the stales, and any sub coming in should have a good 4-5k of gold to play with given the three recent stales. And 4-5k buys a lot of good stuff in Sauromatia. This is on top of the gems and high level research that has also undoubtedly built up during the stales. So there's no way Sauromatia are in a defenceless position right now.
The selling points of this position are that, well it's Sauromatia isn't it!!! They don't usually need selling, as who doesn't love playing with those poison archers, awesome sacreds, and uber powerful Witch Kings. Plus this is not a sub-position for a hopeless nation, as Sauromatia has every chance of not only winning their current war(s) but also to be a contender for the game. The nation also seems to have been well played so far by Unoptimized, given the high ranking Sauromatia has on many scoregraphs.
So if you fancy joining this epic large scale game, and doing justice to both the fine nation of Sauromatia, and Unoptimized's good work so far, then please either post here or in the game thread, and/or PM myself and/or Baalz (who is the game admin)
