IRC issue?
Is anyone else having issues connecting to the IRC channel? I can connect to irc.gamesurge.net, but getting into the actual channel isn't possible.

Re: IRC issue?
Yep, channel is either closed or not there.
It says 'Registration is required to join' so I'd guess a setting just got messed up.
Easy enough to make a new channel, if necessary. Just join #dominions3 or something.

[ 09:48:18 ] -!- ServerMode/#Dominions [+smr] by Snoke.NL.EU.GameSurge.net
There was an announcement earlier that gamesurge would be having some maintenance stuff, and it caused the server to somehow again set the channel to be moderated (ie. no one can speak without ops or voice) in addition to requiring registeration from the server and setting the channel secret.
I don't really see why we should use gamesurge since this is a recurring problem there, which I have not seen on any other irc network, such as ircnet or quakenet.

Re: IRC issue?
OMG! How will I survive without my IRC fix of sexual inuendo, Grumpy Sombre, foodie love, and thuggery of these forums? Quick quick, make a new plan! My family won't survive if I don't have my booger eating pals to talk to.
Oh and I forgot, once in a while a blitz or Dom 3 strategy discussion.

Re: IRC issue?
Yeah we need a new channel, regardless of what server it's on. If IRC is left dead for any length of time I suspect it will never really recover, once people are out of the habit.
Edit: Nevermind, it's fixed now.

Re: IRC issue?
Bark bark.
I thought that was one of the touted benefits and reason not to use the one on here?
Not having the Shrapnel guideline rules? Always seemed good to me.
Maybe it was one of the other IRC channels for games here that openly said it.

Re: IRC issue?
The reason that IRC is that popular is because it's an established chat network which offers a multitude of customizable clients to cater to anyones's individual preferences.
In my case, having a separate window for it that I can minimize to the tray, instead of having to find one specific browser window among my ~120 tabs that I use to have open at the same time, plus the ability to hang around at multiple servers and channels that I'm interested in at the same time, and its logging functionality are definitely a reason to prefer IRC. The Shrapnel chat just doesn't offer the same range of options that IRC has to offer. If chat guidelines are a concern for you, then you might see that specific purpose in it, too, whatever floats your boat.
Which reminds me, I have something to post about...

Re: IRC issue?
About the same way I feel on newsgroup software I guess.
