No 2H file generated
I cannot find a new 2H file after running "end turn" or "options/save&quit". There are no error messages displayed. It has generated the files in the past.
I have searched everywhere in the computer.
I cannot reload Dom3 for 2 months, I won't have access to the original disk until September.
Any ideas what is happening??

Re: No 2H file generated
Did it make them in the past?
What operating system is it?
Are you sure there is space on the hard drive?
Have you tried rebooting the computer completely (total power off)?
If none of those help then you might try running dom3 with the -dd switch so that it creates a debug file. The end of the file should tell you more about the problem.

Re: No 2H file generated
Then all I can recommend is the debug file.
Turn on debug and it should tell you something at the end. Maybe say it cant create the file and why.

Re: No 2H file generated
Is it specific to a single game? Can you play a turn of a different SP game and find it's 2H file? Or has it stopped working even for new games?

Re: No 2H file generated
There is also a problem (altho it shouldnt affect too many players if they have the latest patch) with the number of files. Too many game directories, maps, mods can get in the way of things. But in each case its about 100 so it doesnt tend to affect most players. Mostly its the servers that have to watch it.

Re: No 2H file generated
Thanks guys, I have found the answer. I've had this problem before when I used this "travelling" computer and then managed to forget the whole experience.
It was a "compatibility file" viewing problem, another one of MS's brilliant improvements. I don't know why the file didn't show up in the search, but I guess these files are hidden.

Re: No 2H file generated
Windows' search feature will not index files that do not have their extension registered to be opened with an application (even if they're not hidden.) Most likely the .2H extension is not registered (which, unless you're trying to find them with search, there's no reason to, since you'd never e.g. double-click to open them.)
Personally, I use Visual Studio's file search which is a lot better, but obviously that's not an option for most people.
