Returning to SP... With a new map!
After a bit of sabbatical half-year (somehow wasn't able to concentrate on anything and SP requires atleast a bit of concentration - if I wanted a game I ran Imperial Glory or Cossacks II where the entire art of war is to get to the point of contact with the mostest )
Anyway, as a method of my return, I chose building a new map and possibly a scenario. The map is set up for October, 1938, and I have most of the contours ready as of now - then comes the hard part, filling it with roads, trees etc...
To have a bit of preview (as well as to apply a bit of pressure on myself to move on with it - though I am progressing fast), the map will cover this area:
http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=5...29268&t=h&z=15
Have also map containing bunkers and fields of fire, but now... That would be too much of a spoiler, right?

Okay, so map is 70x70 and I have successfully finished contouring and placed roads and half of one village.

Look forward to it I do like your maps and this looks a bit flatter than most of your creations which are fiendishly hard to play on. I blame my hair loss on the stress caused by fighting over terrain created by you, this one I might just keep whats left

Bwahahahahahahaha muhaha!
Okay, it IS a bit flatter IRL, but that just means I could switch to "1 altitude level = 10 meters" vs. "1 level = 20 meters" scale (maybe. Will have to try how would it go with the LOS).
But there won't be that much impassable terrain... Just rough on slopes. Yeah, I know, same difference for armored vehicles

After checking fields of fire, decided to be merciful Means doing the hills again, but OTOH they'll be much simpler this time

Re: Returning to SP... With a new map!
2nd preview: Completed terrain, plus road network. If you compare the map to the ling I posted, note it's rotated by 90°to get he sides right. Next step to follow: Water. Then buildings, then field tracks, then rough terrain and trees, then fields. And then eye candy
Anyway, enjoy the preview!

Re: Returning to SP... With a new map!
Since it's evening around here and I am finishing for today... Here is preview no. 3. Right bank of the stream almost completed, all that is left are fields and other eye candy, left bank awaiting for the next week.
Date of finishing depends mostly on the weather now If the next weekend is nice, I will not be able to finish it (unless I make it during the week, which i doubt).

Re: Returning to SP... With a new map!
Whoa... Went smoother than I expected. Maybe I will make some more minor changes, but here is let¨s say... A beta version?
Map can be used in either ww2 or MBT, but it is primarily intended for WWII, as I have created to come as close as possible to a 1938 aerial photograph of the area.
So... here's the pic and the file.
Enjoy!
