Do I miss something?
Strange question: I'm playing the Dominions 3 demo right now, and I'm already planning to buy the full game when I put some money on my credit card.
Do I miss something if I just play Dominions 3 and not Dominions 1 and 2 in regards of the singleplayer part of the game? Like a campaign or something like that?

Re: Do I miss something?
Nope, there isn't really any campaign. And all the nations and lore from the previous games are there.

Great!
On a sidenote, I've taken a look at the pretender god's creation menu and there's HUGE customability! I'm already impressed by the demo alone!
It's a shame that I discovered this game just recently, and by a random chance too.

Re: Do I miss something?
You are very welcome, don't hesitate to ask about anything.
While dom3 solo play is a blast initially, I'd say the real fun is in multiplayer. So don't hesitate to join a MP game when your game arrives and have some real competition, roleplay, diplomacy and scheming.

Re: Do I miss something?
Sure, Fantomen!
Anyway, I'll try the multiplayer part after learning the game's ropes! I've printed the whole tutorial for the demo and followed it through all the way, and I'm still learning A LOT of things.
It's so refreshing to find games so deep. In this time we have suffered a lot from bland and simplistic games, and Dominions 3 was really the game I needed.

Re: Do I miss something?
really the only thing you need to know to play multiplayer semi successfully is how to expand vs the AI. Once you can regularly conquer 15 provinces by the end of the first 12 turns you should be ready to go. Obviously then you will get your arse kicked by players who are better at diplomacy, scripting and strategy than you are but at least you will hopefully learn something from the experience. Beyond that ask questions and read the guides helpful players have written and you should do ok.

By "scripting" you mean giving orders to units before sending them to battle?

Re: Do I miss something?
Yeah, that's basically it. The first part of the game is very similar, since you're fighting indies. Unless you get rushed or rush someone.
After that, having some basic idea how to build thugs is good, but thugs that would slaughter the AI get killed in their first fight by exploiting weaknesses the AI doesn't even try to find. Pretty much everything after that is counters and counter-counters. You can learn to counter what the AI does, but since the AI doesn't try to counter you, that only takes you so far.
