LC Special battle glitch
I am sure this can't just be happening to me but I can't find a report of it here.
In a Long Campaign you occasionally get offered a Special Battle. I normally turn these down but game sometimes gives you no choice.
Anyway in the Special Battle your units keep the Disruption Level they had when the previous game ended.
So if a unit ended with a Disruption Level of 10 that is where it starts (and stays) in the Special Battle. You can reduce it as normal but at the start of the next turn it is back to 10. Don't climb higher than 10 on its own either. Like the program thinks 10 is that units norm.
Have seen this in both MBT and WW2.

Re: LC Special battle glitch
Are you sure that is not just a case of units having been reduced to half-strenght in the previous battle?

Re: LC Special battle glitch
That is an excellent question!
Certainly in some cases the units are half strength from losses - hence their disruption level as the game ended.
I don't think so always but I will pay more attention next time this occurs - in fact I have two units in my current save game (see my other LC post) where it is happening.
One is certainly understrength from previous game losses (Iranian AH-1 attack) but I don't think the other is. I will check and report back.
Does a units current strength have an effect on its "permanent" disruption level? Guess that makes some kind of sense.

Re: LC Special battle glitch
What exactly is 'disruption level' - no such term. Perhaps you mean suppression, or are you meaning damage?
In special battles, no repair is made - any damage is carried over.
A rifle section with 50+% damage will automatically receive 10 points of suppression at move start, which you will have to rally away to move them usually. Other damaged units will also gain suppression, depending on morale and experience. Vehicles with track damage will tend to gain suppression as well.
Damaged helos should run off the map, fairly immediately - any damage to air units is instant RTB. A damaged helicopter should be held off the map for the special (or any other) battle, and if it is being presented for the player to use then it is a bug most likely.
Cheers

Re: LC Special battle glitch
Well Gentleman, you are correct - one unit is at half strength and the other much less.
If I am understanding correctly then both units should start the Special battle at 10 suppression and then be able to be rallied back to normal?
If that is so no matter how many times I rally them they are always back "10" at the start of the next turn.
EDIT: Okay - I re-read your post. Half strength units gain 10 suppression every turn?
Oddly, if that is so, I have never noticed that before.

Re: LC Special battle glitch
Yes, infantry units below half strength have their suppression level upped to 10 at the beginning of their turn.

Re: LC Special battle glitch
I'm still waiting to find out if one of those damaged units was a helicopter.
If so, that may need some code fixing to ensure that the damaged helo does not appear on map during the game. (It should be in the hanger getting serviced).
