Questions of a Newbie
Hi,
I play with the newest ptach and CD Version - now I have a few questions...
In my first scenario (of 200 battle camapign Germany) those Poles have already amazing amounts of troops - do they receive reinforcements - can I kill all the troops?
In the score does it count how many troops I killed?
Does the score inflöuence how many points I have to repair, upgrade or buy troops for the next scenario?
Do kills also mean a troops is routed and leaving the map or onyl surrenders and is wiped out completly?
Do I have to conquer all victory points to end the scenario?
Can i later (after the first scenario) buy core troops or just upgrade my existing troops?
How does XP for my troops work - for what do they get XP?
What does XP influence - what is getting better?
Thanks - I really enjoy the game - been playing the first Steel Panthers long time as a teenie ;-)

Re: Questions of a Newbie
1.) In my first scenario (of 200 battle camapign Germany) those Poles have already amazing amounts of troops - do they receive reinforcements - can I kill all the troops?
In the campaign game against AI, your opponent gets fresh forces for every game. The amount of losses they take does not influence the amount of forces available for the next game.
2.) In the score does it count how many troops I killed?
Victory score is based on both damage caused to the enemy and on the victory hexes held.
3.) Does the score inflöuence how many points I have to repair, upgrade or buy troops for the next scenario?
I don't think it does, but I might be wrong.
4.) Do kills also mean a troops is routed and leaving the map or onyl surrenders and is wiped out completly?
Units that rout out of the map do not count as casualties.
5.) Do I have to conquer all victory points to end the scenario?
Battle ends when either:
- Allocated number of turns is up (sometimes the game can get extended by a few turns beyond this)
- Your enemy does not control any victory hexes and has taken enough casualties to be considered broken
6.) Can i later (after the first scenario) buy core troops or just upgrade my existing troops?
You can both buy, sell and upgrade your forces after every battle.
7.) How does XP for my troops work - for what do they get XP?
Participating in a battle, shooting at the enemy, getting shot, and for scoring kills.
8.) What does XP influence - what is getting better?
Experienced units generally perform better: they get more shots per turn, they shoot more accurately, spot enemy more accurately, are more succesful in close assaults and so on.
9.) And another question - can i save support points and take them to the next scenario?
No, the support points do not carry over from scenario to another.

Is this true also of fix/upgrade/expand-core points? Thanks.

Re: Questions of a Newbie
I presume that the last question was referring to the support points used for purchasing auxiliary assets in campaigns, and not to the experience.

Re: Questions of a Newbie
Hey there,
thanks for the many answers - great forum - is there any plan to extend the extended CD Version with an even higher resolution like 1920 - cause I have a bigger screen and usually operate it in this mode...
When are XPs added to units - cause after killing an enemy troop it does not show any difference - maybe after the battle...?
Where do I see how many turns a scenario has?
What does the option training mean?
Can I somehow reduce the inportance of artelliry or completly turn it of - cause I enjoy more the armour/infantry fight then juts getting blown of or blowing of from far ;-)
Will hidden units (for example in woods) ever be spotted before the shoot?
Are assaults a special order or done automaically?

Re: Questions of a Newbie
actually I have a question of my own.
does experience help an infantry squad hide better or "evade" shot better? like veteran knowing how to use cover better.

Some suppression and morale tests are experience based - so yes.
Being below the 70 norm makes things relatively worse.
