Bad ammo?
Okay I was using all the cool tools in MobHack and I noticed that it listed some units as having BAD AMMO for weapons, so I go and check on a couple it gives, so a Rocket Launcher has both HE and AP and it's a secondary weapon, not a primary and it's listed as BAD AMMO?
Similar things for a HMG, it has both HE and AP, but the game says it's BAD AMMO. Why is this?

Re: Bad ammo?
Mobhack has a help file - reading that there is a short bit on the bad ammo message.
Quote:
Bad Ammo- This check finds units that may be assigned ammo it is not set up to use ( for example a tank may be assigned HEAT ammo when there is no HEAT listed for that weapon ) OR assigned ammo to a weapon slot that is not being used
|
That coule be anything - say an aircraft weapon used by a ground unit. Or a HEAT round without a 222 code being used in a non-slot 1 AP slot.
It would be helpful if you said which unit number, in which OOB tripped the message as otherwise we are completely in the dark without the slightest hint where to look.

Re: Bad ammo?
It could be as simple as a weapon slot with no weapon but ammo assigned and typically that happens when copying a unit and the original unit may have had an ATGM or an AAMG in a slot and the new unit doesn't and the weapon was removed but the ammo wasn't. ( Russian 853 has one and so does Iraq 215.....now corrected )
But as Andy said...... and as we have said in the "bug reporting procedures" we need to know where to look to really answer the question.
That said that bad ammo check is one I have not been checking before release as much as I should but will for the next release

An HMG should not have AP ammo as the AP pen is built into the HE and that is why it's showing up as "bad ammo"
.....were is it?

Re: Bad ammo?
I Think someone added 50 cal SLAP to several OOBS, and frankly I have no idea if that even works at all, or even gets better results than the HE.
50 cal HE pen from MG thingies has "special sauce" rules for under ~250 metres when it gets a boost, but beyond that its regular small HE effect. That is for its limited AP function, and stops the things slaying BTRS at 2000 metres (which could happen in the game before we got the code IIRC, back in MSDOS days).
I have had a thought to test if the SLAP thing works, needs range testing I think. Something for the to-do for this winter's codework.

Re: Bad ammo?
I've seen .50 SLAP in the USA and USMC OOBs.
I just assumed it worked.

Re: Bad ammo?
So did I, but yet still every time I see it I have a wee nagging doubt about it.
Therefore (if I can remember!) - I think some range time oer the winter beckons.

Re: Bad ammo?
And finally we get to the point
The bad ammo check on the Russian OOB gives
Quote:
Searching for bad ammo assignments
Unit 853 BMR-3M/MA weapon slot 2 - Ammo Issued to null weapon slot
|
The key here being "slot 2" which is a null weapon (0, null, nada, zilch) with 8 superfluous AP ammo.
I presume you looked at the valid HMG in slot #1, but did not count the ammo bins for weapon slot # 2 - which is what the tool is complaining about, not the perfectly OK weapon in slot #1.
