Default Units with radios

From the HQ list the F formation is recon. The original F0 was lost with F1 becoming the leader. I replaced F0 next game but it had no radio. I then used 'Fix Formation leader' expecting F0 to become the leader and gain a radio which it should have but doesn't? Will the radio comeback or how do I get it back?

Default Re: Units with radios

The game assigns a radio to the formation leader when the formation is first created.

If the formation leader is destroyed then it will be assigned a radio by the usual method, which depends on the radio chance of the base unit. That will eventually lead to it getting a radio one day after seveal battles, especially if the radio chance is low. I'm not going to dig into the code, but a leader unit likelty has a raised chance of being granted a radio over its base radio chance.

So wait a while, and the veteran units that didnt get destroyed will eventually hve more radios than a brand-new formation bought as say support or as a force expansion.

The fact that the formaion is called a "reconnisance" one by some OOB designer makes not a whit of difference, as all formations are plain formations to the code. The OOB dsigner merely named it - its a string, there is no "recce" flag in Mobhack.

So basically - wait a few battles and it should eventually get one if its radio code wasnt zero, bar (probably) leader units.
