Default Which mods ?

I've been searching around trying to find a complete list of mods available and the closest I've found are threads on this board.

Isn't there a webpage that has links to all the mods (newest Versions), and maybe even a list of which works well together?

Don't get me wrong, I like fiddling around with SE4 and doing some modifications, and trying new things (adding a planet type or two, nothing major yet). But I'd like to know which mods are the ones that people like the most.

Right now I've installed the TDM Modpack and Tampa Gamer's sounds. Are there any other "mandatory" mods I should be trying?

Actually, the SE4 Gold CD does provide a good list of the mods, and you don't even have to download them to try them out. If you like the idea of the mod, be sure to check for updates.

Actually, SJ's being a little modest. A definite must-try mod is his Pirates & Nomads mod, currently at Version 3.0 for Gold. Other good mods which drastically change economics, the tech trees, and even ground combat are PvK's Proportions mod (v2.2?), the Devnullmod (complete with stinkin' hard space monsters), and Derek's mod.

If you are just looking for a harder challenge against the computer, try the TDM modpack, which improves the AI of the standard 20 races as well as adding several new ones. It's currently at Version 3.11.

There are many more excellent mods out there; these are just the ones I'm the most familiar with. The "best" mod may well be the one you come up with out of ideas from all the rest!

I did see other Posts mentioning the pirates and nomads so I guess I have to check that out
