Clean install TDM330beta, suggestions?
I'm about to do a clean install of SE4 gold, update to 1.84 and add the 3.3 beta ModPak.
It's been a while since I've done a clean install because I didn't want to lose my modded files, however today, I just want to play some good basic TDM SE4.
Anyone have any recommendations on additions that play well in single player beyond that? Newer AIs? Interesting data files that the ModPak AI will play well with?

Re: Clean install TDM330beta, suggestions?
Hi Tenryu - doing the same here in an effort to update my races for the next TDM release. The only other mods I use with TDM is the soundpack (derived with your help of course) and my Intel Mod on the gold disk (in order to level the playing field with computer use of Intel points so they don't waste them on unused projects)
Welcome Back-
TG

Re: Clean install TDM330beta, suggestions?
Hey Bud! LTNC
I've been here, lurking. I post a wise-*** comment now and then, {trying to neither rise nor fall in rank is a very delicate balancing act),but other then that, just leech off all the great work of others here. Typical parasite, ... hmm, maybe I should become a lawyer,;P, LOL!.
Haven't done much modding in Last year. Been too busy trying to keep my own afloat, as we all noticed by now, I'm sure, the economy sucks.
BTW, you don't have to put all the yada-yada in the sound mod anymore. You improved it so much and so far beyond my humble offerings it is really all yours now. I use it all the time, BTW.
*** Here yous hear yea ***
I formally hereby, yada-yada-yada, release you, Tampa-Gamer, your heirs, your pets, your chattels, your women, etc. from all obligations, known and unknown, past, present, future, and extra-dimensional, regarding the copyrights yada from the stuff you got from me, my heirs, my pets, my chattels, my clones, and pod-people-replicants, etc., etc., etc. for your use in your Sound Mod.
***************
There! That should warm even a lawyer's {very small}heart{if it can be located}.
We've changed most of the stuff and moved onto a new Version, due out in a month or two.
Either that, or, in about six months, I'm oldish, poorish, retiredish, blow-boat trash. LOL! Actually, Last two years have been such a misery that this is beginning to look like an alternative positive outcome.
I was wondering if you were still around.
Keep well, friend, it is good to hear from you.
and I am serious about the credits stuff, really.

Re: Clean install TDM330beta, suggestions?
What i do is this:
1. Install SE4
2. Apply latest patch
3. Install TDM Mod
4. Instal FQM Mod
-> Copy files from fqm dirs to the tdm mod directories.
5. Install the image mod needed for FQM Mod
Makes the game look nicer.
6. Make some coffee, tell your wife/girlfriend you'll be back in a week or two. If she doesn't comply, tell her resistance is futile.
7. Sit down and play
That's about it.

Re: Clean install TDM330beta, suggestions?
Already did 1,2,3and 5,plus Tampa's sound Mod. think I will go look at the readme for FyronQ.
But the 6 part ... I don't know ... I was thinking more along the line of vodka rather than coffee, after all no work tomorrow

Re: Clean install TDM330beta, suggestions?
Could you elaborate on copying the files from the FQM directory to the TDM directory? Which files? What directories?
How long will TDM be in beta?
Oh, and the Intel mod someone mentioned earlier. What's that exactly and how will it react with TDM and FQM?
Oh, and how do you use FQM with another mod? Just create the map and then load the map into another game?
I'm sure all this is in a readme somewhere, but hey, I just thought I'd ask my good buddies here on the board. What are friends for after all??
Ken
Thanks,
Ken

Re: Clean install TDM330beta, suggestions?
JavaSlinger:
I copied these files from the FQM dir to the TDM dir:
1. Pictures\Systems (basically the whole content of the picture dir)
2. All files from the Data directory that deal with the Systems (that's what the FQM mod is about)
I'm not sure about this list but all works so i don't think anything is seriously wrong.
Formations.txt
PlanetSize.txt
Systemnames*
SystemTypes
And that's it.
Make sure you have installed the image mod because the FQM mod depends on it.
To use the FQM mod in another mod, do the above steps and then load the mod you copied the files in with the mod launcher.
That's how i did it. I copied the files to the TDM mod and then, when i play, i use the mod launcher to load the TDM mod which also has the FQM in it so i can use the new quadrant types.
Works great.
I don't think making a map and loading that in a game will work since the mod depends on pictures so if these aren't installed, it won't work. ( not sure about this one)

A good and wise choice. I like vodka too. I like it best in a cocktail though. Problem is i drink those like lemonade. Not pretty if you keep this up a whole night

Re: Clean install TDM330beta, suggestions?
Javaslinger- the Intel mod I referred to is located on your Gold CD in the "extras" subdirectory in a file called "LucasTampaGamerIntelMod". There is a readme in the zip file, just follow the directions. It is fully compatable with TDM. Essentially it creates a subCategory for all of the intel projects the computer AIs do not use (such as the various information spy missions). Humans players can still access them by spending a nominal amount of research points on "Human Intel", but AIs won't research it and therefore only spend there points on the projects they actually use.
Thanks Tenryu!

Are you sure about Formations.txt? I thought I had to keep it from TDM?I actually copied all files from FQM's Data to TDM's Data, except for Formations.txt. Anyone can clarify?
